Start with an itemised scope
Ask for the exact indoor and outdoor unit model references, the number of units and the rooms they will serve. Keep equipment supply separate from installation labour so you can see what each part covers. A brand name or a room size alone is not a complete specification.
Compare these six parts of the quote
- Equipment: model references, quantities, controls and accessories.
- Installation: pipe route and included length, brackets, trunking and drainage.
- Electrical work: what is included, what is separate and who is responsible.
- Access and finishing: working height, access equipment, wall penetrations and making good.
- Handover: testing, demonstration of controls and equipment documentation.
- Commercial terms: VAT treatment, payment stages, quote validity, timing and written warranty conditions.
Ask what would change the price
Use a simple question: “If the assessed pipe route, access or electrical work changes, how will you quote and obtain approval for the difference?” A useful quotation identifies allowances and exclusions before work starts. It should also make clear whether removal of an old unit and disposal are part of the job.
A practical comparison example
Suppose one quote includes equipment and mounting only, while another also includes the agreed pipe route and electrical work. The lower total does not yet tell you which offers better value. Ask both providers to price the same scope, then compare the complete totals and support terms. This is a comparison example, not a Gecko Air price or package.
Prepare your enquiry
Send your town, the rooms involved, approximate dimensions and whether this is a new installation or replacement. Mention estate approvals or difficult access early. For a Sabie home, Gecko Air can start the quotation discussion with these details; final equipment and scope depend on the assessment.
